Men’s health

When is a man a man?

Boss, colleague, classmate, friend, partner, dad, grandfather, son, …

Man in a calm interior looking into the distance

Many men function well on the outside: work, responsibility, relationships. And yet important personal questions stay unseen — not because they aren’t there, but because they’re rarely asked.

This isn’t about what men do for others or mean to others, but about what they themselves experience. You don’t have to collapse first. Seen systemically, these questions connect with biography, expectations, role models and the strategies used so far.

So let’s bring your own life story and your present together.

What it can be about

Achievement and recognitionPressure, comparison, the question of when enough is enough.
Role expectationsWhat “being a man” is supposed to mean — and what still holds.
Anger, withdrawal and closenessHandling feelings that rarely had room before.
Exhaustion behind the surfaceFunctioning, even when little carries you inside.
Fatherhood and partnershipYour own role in family and relationship.
Sexuality and the bodyDesire, insecurity, performance thinking, closeness.
Meaning and reorientationAgeing, changing course, the question of what for.

Facts and figures

Figures that sharpen the picture.

Not a comparison of who has it worse
— context for why
men’s lived realities
are a professional focus in their own right.

  • 7,500 of around 10,300 suicides in 2023 — a ratio that has stayed nearly unchanged since 2003.

Federal Statistical Office of Germany (Destatis), cause-of-death statistics, published 9 September 2024
  • About 10,700 of the 14,400 people who died in 2024 from a disease directly attributable to alcohol consumption were men.

Federal Statistical Office of Germany (Destatis), cause-of-death statistics 2024, published February 2026

This is not “men’s coaching” and not a deficit programme. It is about understanding and a conscious next step.

A first step is enough.
